A new and old face will be holding the Fire Chiefs' position with the Fort Pierre Fire Department for 2007. Joe Meligan was elected to the position at the December fire department meeting. Joe has been on the department for several years and is not new to being an officer. He has held Captain positions and most recently, was the Assistant Chief for the last 2 years. Rick Cronin, who was the Chief in 2006, chose not to run, however, opted to try the Assistant Chiefs' position. Cronin, a 20 year member to the department, will "change hats" with Meligan effective January 1st. Other officers elected to one year terms are: Eric Paul, 1st Captain; Mark Menning, 2nd Captain and Lance Kuper, 3rd Captain. Also elected was Carl Rathbun to the board of directors, which is a 4 year term.
